If you lose power or need to leave your home because of severe winter weather conditions, be sure to shut the water off to the house. Additionally, turn all of your faucets on and drain the water lines down to the lowest level of the house. Draining the water lines will help prevent pipes from freezing if there is no heat in the house. Once the water lines drain down, turn all of the faucets off in preparation for turning the water back on when you return.
